Parent-Child

Sometimes parents and children need a little support in coming together. Parent-child therapy can offer the space needed to grow closer. Parent-child therapy includes sessions with the parent-child dyad, and collateral, collaborative sessions with parents. It is utilized when families are seeking support with children 5 years of age or under. Parent-child therapy helps to support parents in understanding the rich, emerging psychological and emotional worlds of their children through shared experience.

Some of the reasons families seek support include:
  • loss of a parent or caregiver
  • trauma
  • difficulties in the attachment
  • adoption
  • parent or child history of trauma
  • parent or child depression and anxiety
  • child with special needs

Additionally, some families come in needing support in their relationships with their newborns. Parent-child relationships begin in pregnancy, which is an excellent time to seek support if you are feeling worried. I am a specialist in infant mental health, and can help support you as you learn about your relationship with your unborn or newborn baby.
